Where Do People Win the Lottery the Most?
The Luckiest Australian States Revealed!
Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.
If there’s one thing that has always intrigued humanity is how some events are completely random and cannot be explained – or can only be explained by what we call “luck”.
Luck is supposedly random; it doesn’t choose race, social class, location… However, some statistics released lately about lottery wins per regions in Australia last year seem to say otherwise.
Data from all lottery wins in Australia from 1st of December 2015 to 30 November 2016 were compiled and analysed, and the results are quite interesting – especially if you live in one particular state.
The amount of division one wins in some regions shows that indeed, some areas of Australia seem to be luckier than others! Check out now Australia’s hottest spots for winning the lottery!
And The Luckiest State is…
…Victoria! 30% of all division one prizes in Australia were won by Victoria residents. That means that from the 503 jackpots paid in Australia in the past year, 156 were paid to Victoria players, totaling an amount of $244.6 million!
Its neighbour state, New South Wales, comes in second with 117 jackpots. Curiously, though, winners from NSW seem to have won a larger amount of money per prize than the ones from Victoria, since together they sum $268 million - $22 million more than the sum of Victoria, who had almost 40 jackpots more than NSW.
In third place comes Queensland, with 99 jackpots won last year, totaling $201 million in lottery prizes.

Should I Start Packing?
Before you think about moving to one of the luckiest locations in the country, there’s one important thing you should know: although players from Victoria hit more jackpots last year, it does not mean that tickets purchased in other states have less chances of winning.
Lottery is a game of chance; each number has equal chances to be drawn, no matter where you bought your ticket.
There’s no way of knowing where the next big jackpot is going to be won and there is only one real way of increasing your chances of winning, which is increasing the frequency of play.
That said, don’t forget to activate the subscription option on your bet slip, when you place your bet with Lottoland. Your game will be participating on several draws, which massively increase your chances of being the next millionaire in your postcode!
