The MultiMillion Dollar Question
I Want to Win the Lottery - But How?

Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.
Forget those books you might have seen or those websites full of wild promises – there's no skill to lotteries, no strategies or tools you can use to help you win.
It all comes down, quite literally, to the luck of the draw.
It should be noted, also, that all lottery draws are independent events – and while we may have written previously about concepts such as "hot numbers", we always reiterate that the result of one draw has no bearing whatsoever on any other. Each lottery draw is an independent event.
Or, to put it another way, the only lucky numbers are the ones that get drawn on a given night.
Now, as a lottery betting company you may be forgiven for thinking we might have some "insider knowledge" but alas no – if that were the case I'd be sprawled out in a hammock on a private island in the South Pacific right about now.
Such knowledge, much like crystal balls and unicorns, simply doesn't exist.
What we do have, however, is a deep understanding of lottery odds and the probabilities of winning the lottery – and not just the jackpot, which we always tend to focus on, but those additional prizes which often vary wildly.
And that knowledge we're more than happy to share with you.
Knowledge Is Power
January saw a huge increase in new players for us, mostly due to the huge jackpots for US Power and EuroMillions, and, with that, came lots of questions.
If you, too, are a new Lottoland player chances are you're wondering the same questions, so we urge you to check out some of our previous related articles answering questions such as:
- 7 Real Ways How To Win The Lotto?
- Will I Ever Win The Lottery?

In these articles you'll get a broad overview of the different lotteries we have and how they stack up in terms of jackpots, odds and prizes, as well as more information on how Lottoland works, and how to get the most from your Lottoland experience.
Understanding Lottery Probabilities
There's a reason they give away so much money in lotteries. It's because it's very difficult to win the jackpot. So your first step to winning is to understand those probabilities.
You've heard the phrase "a one in a million chance" – well that's considered extremely good odds for a lottery.
Indeed the bigger the lottery and its jackpots, the higher the odds. Your odds of winning the OZ Lotto are much higher than one in a million – they're over one in 45 million. For EuroMillions it's over one in a hundred million. We all know this but we don't care – because we know that life is all about those slim chances. It's that excitement and random chance that makes it worth living.
So, although some players are very interested in the odds, the majority focus, instead, on the size of the jackpots.
One considerable advantage of Lottoland is that we give you both choices. You can go after smaller jackpots but at lower odds, or go all-in for the dramatically large jackpots in the hope of beating much larger odds.
We can't guarantee you'll ever win the lottery. But the good news is that we can't guarantee you won't ever win it either. It could go either way. You have to be in it to win it!
Odds and Ends
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars – Norman Vincent Peale
The above quote is a favourite of mine. It comes from the author of "The Power of Positive Thinking." Which is basically what the lottery is all about.
Remember those words. Yes, ideally you'll want to win the jackpot, but always keep the additional prize divisions in mind when selecting your game.
Beating odds of over 139 million to one, the jackpot odds of EuroMillions, isn't easy – but beating odds of just over half a million to one, the fourth prize in EuroMillions, has a much greater probability. And although you'd obviously love to have a spare few million in your pocket, a few grand extra in the bank wouldn't go astray either would it?
So, although the probability of winning the lottery isn't ideal, there are big winners every week. So stay positive, shoot for the moon and the stars at the same time and make sure not to miss your chance to win.
