Find Out What the Upcoming Law Changes Mean for You!
Explaining the Lottoland Changes

Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.
Although we were disappointed, we respect the Government’s decision and have worked with them to implement the necessary changes.
If this all seems a little strange, don’t worry! We’ll explain and de-bunk what these changes mean for you!
In summary, the changed legislation means:
- Betting on the outcome of Australian lotteries is no longer be available as of November 30th
- Lottoland will continue to operate into the future
- All Australians 18+ (excluding South Australians) will still be able to bet on over 25 international lotteries at Lottoland (including the Keno 24/7 and the American lotteries)
- Your player account and experience will remain unchanged
Is Lottoland Banned in Australia?
No.
The Northern Territory Government’s announcement only affects betting on Australian Lotteries.
You can still bet on all the international lotteries that Lottoland offer, including;
- US Power
- US Millions
- EuroMillions
- El Gordo Christmas Lottery
Keep in mind that the highest ever jackpot in Australia currently stands at around $110 million (Oz Lotto). The US Power record sits at a whopping $1.59 BILLION* USD (approx. $2.3 billion*).
We also offer over 25 other international lotteries that you can bet on, so don’t worry – there are still many options to choose from.
When Did the New Changes Come into Effect?
The Northern Territory Government’s announcement to no longer permit betting on the outcome of Australian lotteries came into effect on November 30th. You are no longer able to bet on any Australian draws that occur after this date.
Why Has the Northern Territory Banned the Bets on Australian Lotteries?
Although we can’t speak on behalf of The Northern Territory racing commission we believe they felt it was in their best interest to ban the betting of Australian lotteries, although disappointing we accept this decision and will work cooperatively with them to implement the necessary changes.
Can I Still Place a Bet on Keno 24/7/MegaMillions and the Other International Lotteries?
Yes.
The Northern Territory Government announcement does not have any impact on our ability to offer bets on International lotteries and these will continue to operate as normal. We get our Keno results from the New York Keno (Quick Draw), so we are pleased to say that Keno 24/7 will remain unaffected.

Official Statement from Lottoland
Luke Brill, CEO of Lottoland Australia
“Lottoland Australia is disappointed but we respect this decision and we will work with the Northern Territory Government to implement the necessary changes to our business.
We offer value and choice through innovation to more than 650,000 Australians and, importantly, there are no restrictions on our international products, meaning our customers can continue to bet on the outcome of overseas lotteries.
Overseas lotteries are the preferred betting option amongst our customers as they offer larger jackpots.
From day one Lottoland has strived to grow the market through our international offering. Every bet placed on an international lottery is incremental revenue that state governments and newsagents can benefit from if they work with Lottoland.
We are still committed to working with newsagents so they can expand their service offering through our platform and counter the negative impact Tatts’ digital business is having on their revenues. Our offer to state governments on paying a point of consumption tax also stands.
Now there is clarity from the Northern Territory Government on their positon, we look forward to continuing to provide Australian customers an innovative service they value.”
