256-bit SSL

Lottoland utilises 256-bit SSL - the same high standard utilised by online banking. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is an industry standard encryption protocol that “encodes” sensitive data to protect it and keep it confidential.

Australian Lotto Bloc

Australia’s top lottery companies belong to a group known as the “Australian Lotto Bloc”. While the games available remain the same, they are often branded by different names depending on who the state’s regional operator is. Such lotteries include Tatts Lotto, Oz Lotto, Gold Lotto, X Lotto, Monday and Wednesday Lotto, Saturday Lotto and Powerball.

Cold Numbers

Cold number theory is a belief that numbers which have not been drawn for some time are "cold numbers" and, although there is no correlation between the results of one draw and another, its proponents believe these numbers are therefore "due" to be drawn in future.

The coupon is the numbered portion of the Normal or System ticket, where the numbers are selected for an upcoming lottery draw.

Deposit/Staking limits

This function allows you to restrict the amount that you invest monthly to win the lottery!

Double Jackpot

The DoubleJackpot feature is a special option provided by Lottoland that allows players to go for twice the official lottery jackpot. So, for instance, if the official draw is $10 million and the Double Jackpot is activated, the jackpot prize at Lottoland will be $20 million. The prizes for all other tiers will remain the same. The price of the game will be doubled when the DoubleJackpot feature is activated. For more info see Double Jackpots.

At each draw, the winning numbers are determined. As a rule, the draw is broadcast live or recorded and shown live on TV and on the Internet.

Draw Closing Time / Ticket Sale Close

The ticket sale close is the last moment at which you may purchase a ticket for an upcoming draw.

EuroJackpot is a new pan-European lottery, launched in March 2012. It follows the format of 5 out of 50 numbers and 2 out of 8 supplementary numbers.

EuroMillions is a transnational lottery run by the state lotteries in Belgium, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Luxembourg, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain. A minimum jackpot of € 15 million (approx. 23 million) is guaranteed.

Full System

In a Full System ticket, all possible combinations of numbers are also actually played in the lottery.

High-paying Lottery

A high-odds lottery is one with a regular double-digit million amount on offer like the Powerball US, EuroJackpot and EuroMillions lotteries.

If no player is able to match all the correct numbers for a lottery draw, then the winnings 'roll-over' into the next draw.

Normal Ticket

The Normal ticket is the classic lottery ticket where the regular lottery numbers are printed.

Number Shield

The NumberShield feature is a special option provided by Lottoland that protects a specific set of numbers in the event of a jackpot win for one player. If this feature is activated the entire jackpot in division 1 will be won by a player who chose this option, even if other players chose the same numbers. Only one player can select the NumberShield feature for a specific set of numbers. If another player has already shielded a specific set of numbers no other player will be able to shield the same numbers for the respective draw. NumberShield can be chosen for a particular game field or complete ticket and will occur an additional cost added to the ticket price. NumberShield and DoubleJackpot cannot be selected on the same ticket. For more info also see NumberShield.

Prize Levels

Prize levels are determined based on the number of matches between a ticket and the lottery numbers drawn. The actual amounts at each prize level are determined using a totalizer principle, which are then split amongst all players in a particular income class.

Special Jackpots

From time to time Lottoland offers jackpots that are higher than the official jackpots – that's what we call a Special Jackpot, only available at Lottoland. For more information refer to Special Jackpots Explained.

At Lottoland, all tickets may be set up as a subscription (also known as a Autoplay). These tickets are automatically renewed until you cancel the subscription. More information about Subscriptions and How to cancel a subscription.

A syndicate is a group of people that combine their money to play the lottery with a type of bet that gives them biggest chances of winning: system bets. For more information also see Play Lotto with System Entries.

System Ticket / System Entry

A system ticket / system entry is an extension of the normal ticket, allowing you to pick additional numbers for a draw. As a result, more combinations are generated, increasing your chances of winning, with little additional effort! For more information also see System Entries.

The Term specifies the time period for which a lottery ticket is automatically entered into all selected draws.

Totalizer Principle

The EuroJackpot and EuroMillions work on a totalizer principle i.e. player stakes are distributed on a fixed percentage per winnings/payout class or tier.

The ratio indicates the amount of money that is available for each tier of winnings for a lottery. This figure is recalculated for each draw and depends on the total contribution from all players.
