How Do I Fill out an Austrian Lotto Ticket?
Filling out an Austrian Lotto ticket is easy – even if you have never played the lottery before. Inside the ticket area you’ll see a grid of boxes, each representing one of the 45 numbers you can play. Simply tick the boxes to pick your six numbers.
Quick Pick Feature: Alternatively you can click on the Quick Pick box to pick your numbers using our random number generator. The advantage of this, beyond just speed and convenience, is that truly random numbers are less likely to be picked by other players, therefore you are far less likely to have to share large jackpots.
System Bets: If you select more than six numbers you will automatically trigger a system bet. Picking extra numbers will increase your ticket price. Playing with additional numbers in multiple combinations, however, will also increase your chances of winning.
The Joker Game: By opting to play the add-on Joker game you have yet another opportunity to get rich. Six numbers from zero to nine are drawn from the drum. Each time a number is drawn it is then placed back into the drum, theoretically allowing the same number to be drawn an additional five times.
Unlike the regular game you cannot select specific numbers for the Joker game because, in Austria, the Joker draw corresponds to the serial number on your actual lottery ticket. In Lottoland these numbers are pre-picked at random using the same numerical structure. Unlike when you play with an actual ticket, however, with Lottoland you also have the option of clicking the refresh button (the circling arrow icon) next to your numbers to generate a new number sequence. Feel free to do this as many times as you wish until you have a sequence you would like to play with. You can also select up to three different Joker number sequences to play. Each Joker selection costs $2 extra.
Draw Options: The Austrian Lotto and Joker draws take place every Wednesday at 17:48 UK time and Sundays at 18:15 UK time. Set the draws you wish to participate in here – Wednesday, Sunday or both days.
Duration Options: The Duration options allow you to select how many games you wish to play – from a single game to multiple games up to a year in advance. The Sub (subscription) option lets you play these games indefinitely (unless you cancel). So, if you select to play for two weeks, you will play for two weeks. If you check the Subscription box, however, you will play until you cancel your subscription and be billed every two weeks.
In the Participation section, meanwhile, you can select specific times when you wish to play, for example from a given date you might decide to only play when the jackpot is $7 million or over.
Whichever option you choose, as a Lottoland player, you will be automatically notified by email of your transaction and will then subsequently be sent an email with each draw’s results. You will also be sent an email detailing any wins and the amount that has been credited to your Lottoland account.
What Is the Joker Number and how Is it Determined?
The Joker number is part of the special Joker bonus game. It is composed of six numbers from a range of 0 to 9.
If you play with an actual Austrian Lotto ticket the Joker number sequence corresponds to your ticket’s six-digit serial number. This is why you cannot pick each number individually as with the regular game.
With Lottoland the numbers are generated at random, however you do have the option to change these numbers by clicking the Refresh button on the right hand side of your Joker numbers. You can generate as many new Joker numbers as you wish until you land a sequence you are happy with, and you can choose up to three different number sequences at a time.
To win the Joker game you need to have the correct numbers in the correct sequence.
The top tier prize is awarded if you get all six numbers in a row. The second tier prize is awarded when you have the last five numbers in a row, the fourth prize for when you have the last four numbers in a row and so on. The last prize is therefore awarded if you have guessed the final number correctly, where the odds of winning are 1:16.
What Are the Odds of Winning the Austrian Lotto?
The probability of winning The Austrian 6aus45 Lotto is higher than most other European lotteries with odds of just 1: 8,145,060. The odds of winning any prize is just one in 12, so statistically you’re likely to win a prize once in every twelve games.
In the bi-weekly Austrian Lotto draw six balls are picked from the drum, followed by the bonus ball.
|Prize Division||To Win||Odds of Winning|
|Division 1||All Six Numbers||1:8,145,060|
|Division 2||Match 5 + Bonus Number||1:1,357,510|
|Division 3||Match 5||1:35,724|
|Division 4||Match 4 + Bonus Number||1:14,290|
|Division 5||Match 4||1:772|
|Division 6||Match 3 + Bonus Number||1:579|
|Division 7||Match 3||1:48|
|Division 8||Bonus Number||1:16|

After the main draw the Joker draw is held. In this draw six numbers, from 0 to 9, are drawn from the drum. After each number is drawn it is placed back into the draw so it’s possible that the same number can be drawn multiple times – e.g. 999999.
How Do I Improve My Chances of Winning the Austrian Lotto?
There’s plenty of ways to get the most from your Austrian Lotto ticket. One of the most effective methods is to use a System bet. When you check more than six numbers on your ticket this feature will be activated automatically.

You can opt out at any time and cancel the subscription in your player account. Please find more information here: How to cancel a subscription
What Does "Participation: When Jackpot Is" Mean?
This allows you to only participate when the jackpot is a set amount. So if you choose $7 million, you will only enter draws when the jackpot is at a minimum of $7 million.
Can I Play a Ticket for a Future Draw?
Of course! Just select your numbers as usual then select the date from the dropdown menu in the Participation section to select the draw date you wish to play for. This is ideal if you wish to participate in upcoming weekend draws in advance and you know you’re going to be away from your computer at the time.

There are eight prize divisions for the Austrian Lotto, the first being the jackpot. Please see our question on prize odds above for the full breakdown of prize requirements.
